Tha Prodigal Biography
Josef Eugene is the first and certainly the most relevant Gay Rapper from South Carolina. He is an actor, musician, activist, and writer. He studied Theatre at the University of South Carolina until his junior year when he withdrew to focus full-time on his ever-growing success. Josef has trended locally and has come to be known as "Josef The Artist", "Tha Prodigal Son", "Tha Gay Nicki Minaj" and "Josef that Faggot".
Josef has performed on countless stages in the Columbia Metro Area but most recently for South Carolina Pride Talent. Josef firmly believes in the power of social networking and has accumulated a vast following in a short few months on twitter (@JosefEugene).
In March 2011 Josef released his first mixtape entitled Live, Love, Josef produced by VIV which was exclusively distributed to current twitter followers and is no longer in circulation.
Since the release of the mixtape he has collaborated and assembled several artist under and artist co-op known as DreamChaserz Records. Notable DreamChaserz artist include Cocky Da Homo Mc and Rachel Skyy Blue. Josef is also currently assembling several Gay Artist to form FAGMOB which will work to increase awareness about the birth of GAY HIP-HOP.
Josef is most known for his collaboration on the song Compete with the Cocky and Blue. Compete was produced by Hawaii native producer Maurice "Misunderstood" Blackwell. Also for his most recent collaboration "Dimension" produced by Johnny Juliano.
Josef Eugene was born and raised in South Carolina but always felt deeply disconnected from the staunch conservatives views of the state. His music is a response to the harsh realities of being born Gay, Black, and Artistic in rural South Carolina.
